Privacy Policy

RORY is a personal reading tracker. We collect the information needed to provide your account, keep your reading life in sync, help you discover and organize books, respond to support requests, and improve the reliability of the service.

Information we collect

Account information may include your email address, authentication identifiers, profile details, display name, reader preferences, and beta access details.

Reading information may include saved books, wishlist items, TBR items, current reads, finished reads, paused or DNF books, reading progress, reading sessions, dates, notes, ratings, private reflections, reviews, collections, shelves, goals, and related book metadata.

Profile information may include details you choose to add, such as a display name, bio, reading preferences, and uploaded avatar or profile images.

How we use information

We use your information to create and secure your account, display your library, sync reading progress, preserve reading history, power search and discovery features, support app functionality, respond to requests, troubleshoot issues, and improve RORY.

We do not use private notes, ratings, reflections, or reading history for third-party advertising.

Analytics and performance data

RORY may collect limited analytics, performance, diagnostic, and usage information to understand whether pages and features are working, improve load times, and investigate errors. This may include device or browser information, approximate usage events, timestamps, pages or screens viewed, and technical performance data.

RORY does not use analytics data to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.

Email, support, and communications

If you contact support, join the beta waitlist, receive invite emails, update email preferences, or otherwise communicate with RORY, we may process your email address, message content, support details, delivery status, and related communication records.

Third-party processors and services

RORY uses service providers to operate the app. These may include Supabase for authentication, database, and storage; Vercel for hosting, analytics, and performance insights; Resend for email delivery; and book metadata providers such as ISBNdb, Google Books, Open Library, and WorldCat where configured for catalog search and enrichment.

These services may process information as needed to provide their functions for RORY. Third-party book metadata sources help populate covers, descriptions, edition details, identifiers, and search results. Your personal reading activity remains tied to your RORY account and is not sold to book metadata providers.

Sale, sharing, and tracking

RORY does not sell your personal information. RORY does not share your personal reading data with third parties for cross-app or cross-site advertising. RORY does not request permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites.

If RORY's data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures should be updated before those changes are released.

Account deletion and retention

You can delete your RORY account from Profile or Settings in the app, or by signing in on the Delete Account page. Account deletion removes your account and personal reading data connected to it, including saved books, progress, notes, ratings, reflections, and reading sessions.

RORY may retain limited records when needed for security, troubleshooting, legal compliance, backup recovery, abuse prevention, or legitimate business records. Backup and log deletion may take additional time after a request is processed.

Children

RORY is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to RORY, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.

Your choices

You may update certain profile and preference information in RORY. You may also contact RORY to ask questions, request account deletion, or request help reviewing information associated with your account.

Changes to this policy

RORY may update this policy as the product, service providers, legal requirements, or App Store disclosures change. The effective date will be updated when material changes are made.
